The Honest Planner

About the book …

The Honest Planner – A Wedding Planning Book with Attitude

The Honest Planner is a cheeky, witty – and yes, slightly sweary – guide to planning your wedding without the fluff. Think of it as your best friend giving you brutally honest advice over a bottle of wine (or whiskey!).

Forget sugar-coated timelines and Pinterest-perfect promises – this is straight-talking wedding guidance that tells you everything no one else dares to say.

Packed with laugh-out-loud stories from Susanna Richardson’s own wedding-planning misadventures, plus insider tips from more than two decades in the luxury wedding industry, this book is equal parts hilarious, practical and refreshingly real.

Oh, and did we mention? It’s filled with pages of gorgeous wedding photography too.

The Honest Planner is available exclusively from The Wedding Club – Knightsbridge

From the Author …

When I first wrote The Honest Planner in 2017, it was almost therapeutic – a way to pour out all the knowledge and hard-won lessons I’d gained as a wedding planner. I felt the wedding world was missing a book that blended humour, honesty and no-nonsense advice.

The original illustrated edition launched in 2019, but life threw me a curveball: my mom’s terminal cancer diagnosis and, of course, Covid. The book had to take a backseat.

Fast-forward to 2023: the wedding industry looked different. Too much focus on Instagram grids, not enough on love, laughter and connection – the real essence of a wedding. I knew The Honest Planner deserved a second life. So I rewrote it, added new chapters, and included stunning photographs from weddings I’ve planned over the last 10 years. This was something I’d orginally shied away from as I didn’t want to trade of clients images but actually they were all super flattered to be asked.

This book is my love letter to weddings, to honesty, and to finding joy in the chaos.

After 24 years in the business, it’s also my reminder to myself – and to every couple – to reconnect with what truly matters.

I hope you love the book as much as I do!
