From the Author …
When I first wrote The Honest Planner in 2017, it was a way of capturing everything I had learnt as a wedding planner. The lessons, the realities, and the things no one ever quite says out loud. It felt like the industry was missing something honest, with a sense of humour and a bit of perspective.
The original illustrated edition followed in 2019, but life shifted. My mum’s illness, and everything that came with that time, meant the book was quietly set aside.
When I returned to it in 2023, the industry felt different. More focused on how things looked, less on how they felt. And for me, that has always been the most important part.
So I rewrote it. I added new chapters, and for the first time included photographs from weddings I have planned over the past decade. Something I had always been careful about, but which felt right to do, with the support of the clients involved.
This book is a reflection of everything I believe about weddings. That they should feel personal, joyful and deeply considered, not just beautiful.
After more than two decades in the industry, it is also a reminder to myself, and to every couple, to come back to what really matters.
